Per partecipare connettersi all’indirizzo: https://uni
 roma1.zoom.us/j/83646520912?pwd=TjJBUHdxRUh4NkxjUHJpcmxhaDM3UT09 Title: Ro
botic Process Automation and MiningAbstract:After an overview of his past
and recent research activities\, Andrea will focus on a recent line of res
earch devoted to the design\, formalization and realization of novel solut
ions for Robotic Process Automation (RPA). RPA tools access the user inter
face (UI) layer of software (SW) applications and provide a virtual workfo
rce of SW robots that are able to mimic human keyboard and mouse interacti
ons with a UI as if a real person was doing them. However\, the current ge
neration of RPA tools is driven by predefined rules and manual configurati
ons made by expert users rather than by intelligent solutions\, making the
current practice time-consuming and error-prone. To mitigate this issue\,
Andrea will show how a targeted use of Process Mining techniques enable u
s to: (i) discover repetitive routines amenable for automation directly fo
r the UI logs recording interactions between workers and computer systems\
, and (ii) generate executable RPA scripts from UI logs in form of SW robo
ts\, thus neglecting the manual specification stage of the routines' behav
iour. Short Bio:Andrea Marrella is an assistant professor at the Departmen
t of Computer\, Control and Management Engineering of the Sapienza Univers
ity of Rome\, Italy. He received a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering
in 2013. His main research interests focus on how to integrate artificial
intelligence with business process management solutions to untangle compl
ex challenges from the fields of process mining and robotic process automa
tion. In 2021\, he started a research program targeted to the realization
of automated solutions to tackle the Big Data Pipeline discovery issue in
the context of the recently funded H2020 project DataCloud. Information di
rector of ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality and PC Chair of the
Robotic Process Automation Track at the 20th International Conference on B
usiness Process Management (BPM 2022)\, Andrea has co-authored many public
ations in major outlets in the computer science and information systems ar
eas\, including the paper: 'Multi-party Business Process Resilience By-Des
ign: A Data-centric Perspective'\, which received the Best Paper Award at
the 29th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineer
 ing (CAiSE 2017).
