83480660545Title: To cooperate\, or not to cooperate\, that is the questio
 n. Strategic analysis for the implementation of industrial symbiosisAbstra
ct: Industrial symbiosis is acknowledged as a pivotal strategy for compani
es aiming to facilitate the transition towards a circular economy. By util
izing waste generated from one production process as inputs and raw materi
als for other production processes\, companies can simultaneously achieve
economic and environmental benefits. However\, the adoption of industrial
symbiosis remains limited among companies. One significant barrier is the
lack of adequate support in strategic decision-making. From the strategic
perspective\, the current literature predominantly focuses on the cooperat
ion between waste producers and waste users to replace primary inputs with
waste. This seminar will explore an alternative model of industrial symbi
osis\, termed “new product development\,” which is based on competition ra
ther than cooperation. The traditional cooperative approach will be compar
ed with a competitive new product development strategy. Consequently\, com
panies interested in implementing industrial symbiosis must decide which m
odel to adopt: to cooperate or not to cooperate\, that is the question. Ut
ilizing a game-theoretical model\, the seminar will examine the impact of
market characteristics\, investment requirements\, industrial symbiosis co
sts\, and primary input purchase costs on the strategic choices of waste p
roducers\, providing valuable insights for managers and decision-makers.Sh
